Abstract:

Political and social transitions after the revolution and the imposed war leaded the atmosphere of the society to a trend towards a sort of literature of endurance and perseverance called holy defense literature and holy defense as a great event in the history of Islamic revolution caused deep transformation in literature of Iran specially literature of perseverance. Undoubtedly literature of holy defense as a branch of the literature of perseverance has distinctive characteristics that separates it as a special type of literature from the other types. Survey and analysis of the poems of this type from various points of view has particular importance. One of the fields of survey is the presence of the prominent characters of the holy defense in poems of the poets that are introduced as the emblem and symbol in literal texts. In this study the poems of Isfahanian poets were selected. Isfahan is a city which played an important role in war and play of its citizens and the bravery of its commanders is not covert to anyone. The poets of Isfahan also enjoyed from this spiritual prop and created prominent artworks. Great martyrs as the significant emblems of the holy defense have significant effect in poems of perseverance and Isfahanian responsible poets express their thoughts through naming the innocent chivalrous emblems in their poems and retell their dramatic direct and indirect effects. Emblems are the people that because of their specific moral, cultural and social characteristics deserve to be the model by other people. Thus, seeking these moral treasures among the literal texts and poems is a big opportunity to know the effects of these emblems in individual and social aspects to display their role and influence in literature more than before. Therefore, this study which has been done in a descriptive-analytical way is supposed to survey and analyze their most important effects and reflects their practical role in developing human character and prosperity and the society identification. Through Studying these poems among the works which they have collected the holy defense poems of Isfahan and the available collections in this field, the main impacts and transformation that these precious emblems had on poetry and the holy defense literature of Isfahan and even Iran, we can infer these results: Generally the impacts are classified into 8 groups: 1. Cohesion and replication with the national, religious and historical emblems 2. Keeping and reviving the religious national and historical identification 3. To motivate and stimulate the emotions 4. To keep the homeland, Independence and national honors. 5. Showing the emblems as national honor 6. The effect of religious emblems on beliefs and behaviors of holy defense symbols of Isfahan. 7. The youth emulation of emblems, warning and informing them 8. Bond with romantic mysticism.

Introduction: The p53 tumor suppressor gene plays important roles in genomic stability. Several reports have noted racial differences in the prevalence of p53 genotypes at the codon 72 in patients with endometriosis. Objective: To study the association of endometriosis with p53 codon 72 polymorphism in the population of Isfahan. Materials and Methods: We undertook a case-control study to examine the possible associations of the TP53 variants Arg4Pro at codon 72 with the risk of endometriosis. Ninety whole blood specimens from normal people as controls and Ninety endometriosis specimens from the city of Isfahan were analyzed. p53 codon 72 genotypes were identified using allele-specific polymerase-chain reaction. The gathered data were analyzed by SPSS. Chi-squared test was used for comparison of three genotypes frequency distribution of codon 72 in cases and control specimens. Results: In control samples, the genotype distribution for p53 polymorphism showed 42.2%, 54.4% and 3.3% for the Arg/Arg, Arg/Pro and Pro/Pro genotypes, respectively. In endometriosis specimens, 28.9% of them were Arg/Arg, 55.6% were Arg/Pro and 15.6% were Pro/Pro. The differences in the distribution of p53 codon 72 polymorphism between the cases and controls were statistically significant (p<0.05).Conclusion: The findings of the present study indicate that p53 codon 72 polymorphism is a genetic predisposing factor for endometriosis development in Isfahanian specimens. However, further studies are needed in order to elucidate the role of p53 codon72 polymorphism in endometriosis development.

Abstract:

The phosphatidylinositol 3-kinases (PI3Ks) are a family of serin/thereonin kinase enzymes which are activated in response to external stimuli by tyrosine kinase receptors. Active PI3K participate in various signaling pathway including proliferation, differentiation, cell cycle control and apoptosis through producing PIP3 as second messenger and activating AKT. Class I of this family enzyme is heterodimer comprised of a catalytic and a regulatory subunit. Mutations of catalytic subunit can increase the enzyme activity and cause uncontrolled growth of the cells. This finally results in the cells, becoming cancerous. Previous studies indicate high percentage of mutation in this gene.Considering the high incidence of breast cancer in Isfahan, in this study mutations of this gene in breast cancer patients are investigated. DNA from 60 patient samples and 35 controls were extracted and the exons were amplified by PCR. Then mutations of this gene were analyzed by SSCP technique. Based on the results of this study, 28% mutations in this gene were reported, which approves the oncogenic feature of the PI3K. Positive association between mutations of the gene and lymph node involvement with P=0.0 and odd ratio=7 indicates the role of this pathway in" metastasis. The high percentage of mutation in this gene and its role in metastasis show the importance of this pathway for therapeutic purposes in order to prevent and stop the growth of breast cancer.

Abstract:

Introduction. Survey for food consumption patterns prepares the quantitative and qualitative scales for assessing nutriotonal state among population. Healthy nutrition is one of the preventive factors for non communicable diseases as cardiovascular disease (CVD). Regarding the increasing trends in CVD mortality/morbidity and relatively high incidences of CVD risk factors in Isfahan, it is essential to determine food consumption patterns in this population. Methods. One of the most reliable procedure for social food patterns is 24 hr recall, performed mainly by pictural questionnaire. Food Consumption Program-Heart Concern Software (IFCP) was developed for this task through 24 hr recall. By this computerized program, user can work with pictures of food album for determining what kind and how much foods the patients consumed. The sensitivity of this software is very high for determining nutrient intakes corresponding to Iranian cooking and feeding culture. In this cross sectional study, 1193 people (aged 20-70 years old) were selected systematically from 40 clusters in Isfahan city through 4 seasons. For each person, two computerized questionnaires were completed for personal characteristics and daily food consumption by an instructive operator. Interview for 24 hr food consumption was design for 3 days determined randomly through a week. Therefore, distribution were maintained for food data. The obtained yearly data was analysed by the same program achieved the level of energy, carbohydrate, portein, total fat, cholesterol and fatty acids intaken form daily feeding. Results. Mean energy intake was 2380.9±1082.2 Kcal/day for total population. Thre was a significant difference between men and women in all age groups (P<0.0001). The energy obtained from fat was 29.28 percent in people aged 20-70 years old in Isfahan city. Cholesterol intake for each person was 253.5±179.1 mg/day and the energy obtained from each fatty acid groups as SFA, MUFA and PUFA are 13.11, 9.40 and 5.22 percent of total energy. Also, carbohydrate intake for each person is 344.2±179.4 gr/day in Isfahan population (obtained energy is equal 58.8 percent of total energy). Protein intake was 79.3±30.5 gr/day. Discussion. Regarding the obtained results, it is essential to promote people especially in age groups of 20-29 and 50-59 years old to improve their nutriton pattern considering lower intakes of calory, fatty acid groups and increasing nutriton fiber.

Abstract:

Background: Besides the high prevalence of obesity among adults, the prevalence of childhood obesity is also growing in an alarming rate. Few data are available linking fast food intake to diet quality in developing countries. This study was conducted to determine the association between fast food consumption and diet quality as well as obesity among Isfahanian girls. Methods: This cross-sectional study was done among 140 Iranian adolescents selected by the use of systematic cluster random sampling. Dietary intakes were assessed using a validated food frequency questionnaire.Fast foods were defined as following items: “convenience food” or prepared foods such as hamburger, sausage, cheese burger, other burgers, hot dogs, rusk fish, rusk poultry, French fries, and pizza. Diet quality was defined based on energy density and nutrient adequacy ratios calculated by dividing daily individual intake to dietary recommended intake for each nutrient. Anthropometric variables and physical activity were also measured. Results: Individuals in the highest quartile of fast food intake had significantly lower NARs for vitamin B1 (P=0.008), phosphorus (P=0.0250), selenium (P<0.001) and vitamin B2 (P=0.012) compared with those in the lowest quartile. Those in top quartile of fast food intake consumed more energy-dense diets than those in the bottom quartile (P=0.022). High intakes of fast foods were significantly associated with overweight (top quartile: 40% versus bottom quartile: 0%, P=0.0001) and obesity (11.4% versus 2.9%, P=0.0001).Conclusions: Probably, more fast food consumption is associated with more energy intake from non-fast-food and fast food sources. For instance, a significant direct association between fast food intake and sugar sweetened beverages has been reported. Moreover, Iranian fast foods are rich sources of saturated and trans-fatty acids which may results in obesity. Foods with low dietary quality e.g., white bread, mayonnaise and sugar sweetened beverages are also consumed along with fast food.In conclusion, Fast food consumption is associated with poor diet quality and high prevalence of overweight and obesity among Isfahanian adolescents. Prospective data are required to confirm these findings.

Abstract:

Background and Objective: The growing evidence suggest on the association between dietary patterns and obesity. This study was done to determine the relation between pattern of nutrient intake and obesity in Isfahanian adults. Methods: In this descriptive - analytical study, dietary data were collected using a semi-quantitative food frequency questionnaire in 8, 691 subjects aged 18-55 years. Complete data of 6, 724 and 5, 203 adults were available for general and abdominal obesity, respectively. Daily intakes of 38 nutrients and bioactive compounds were calculated for each participant. Factor analysis was applied to derive major nutrient patterns. Results: Three major nutrient patterns were identified: 1) pattern high in fatty acids, cholesterol, vitamin B12, vitamin E, zinc, choline, protein, pyridoxine, phosphorus, and pantothenic acid; 2) high in thiamine, betaine, starch, folate, iron, selenium, niacin, calcium, and manganese; and 3) high in glucose, fructose, sucrose, vitamin C, potassium, dietary fiber, copper and vitamin K. Men in the highest quintile of the second pattern were less likely to be generally obese in the fully adjusted model (95% CI: 0.20-0.76, OR: 0.39, P<0.05). After adjustment for potential confounders, a significant positive association was observed between the third pattern and general obesity among men (95% CI: 1.04-3.04, OR: 1.77, P<0.05), but it was not in women (95% CI: 0.74-1.88, OR: 1.18, P>0.05).Conclusion: Nutrient patterns were significantly associated with general, but not abdominal obesity in the male Iranians participating in SEPAHAN study.
